first hand, but from what I've read, the unveiling of the Don Knotts statue in
Morgantown, WV on Saturday went extremely well. His daughter, Karen, was on
hand and plenty of "before he was Barney"
On a recent episode of American Pickers (June 22, 2016), the guys found a
concrete statue of sheriff Andy Taylor. It stood about 3 feet tall. They bought
it for $125. The seller insisted that the guy who made it originally made
three, but that two of them got broken. It looked a whole lot

Mount Rushmore. I went and saw that once and I thought the scupturist did a

If memory serves me, that same statue was used on the I Love Lucy show for
some patritotic event when they had moved out in the country. The thing that
I noticed was when it wobbled as it was unveiled! I don't think much effort
was put into this prop!

thought: They wouldn't let us put up a life size statue of Barny Fife in

The damage to Andy and Opie's statue in Mt Airy was probably caused by that
same group of boys who threw rocks at the light pole. Opie didn't do that and
probably wouldn't throw paint all over himself, so maybe Barney can disguise
himself as a light pole and catch them varmits. T

As a historian, I work with restoration/preservation. I am sure if TV Land was
contacted, they would know the right restorer to call. I for one would

News had a story about it. They said green paint was poured on his head and
red paint to his badge and chest. Apparently they are still looking for the
perpetrators.

In order to guarantee a “Mayberry Days Unveiling” we need to have $7,000 in the
account by Monday afternoon. We are ½ way there. So if you
