Not a good scientific sample -- 125,000 sites which use their tracking
software. Nobody has a reliable way to get these numbers. Although it seems
likely the received wisdom that IE is clearly dominant is correct.

The site won't validate. No DOCTYPE, nothing to validate against. It does
have a meta for httt-equiv so adding the DOCTYPE will allow validation.

Hi,
I have been asked to create a small website for a relative's bed and
breakfast place. They are a new set up and obviously on a budget.
I was just wondering what hosts others use for similar sites, and could
anyone recommend a free or very cheap web host?

Hi Joseph,
could anyone recommend a free or very cheap web host?
I went through this a little while ago ;-)
David-Huw recommended www.34sp.com, and at £15/year I thought I'd give them
a go... it's a couple of months down the road now and I'm very happy with
their service. Standard accounts

don't know about Lycos but would recommend www.34sp.com good reliable UK
(London) based service and basic cost of £15/year.
hope that this helps

Quoth Andrew Trusz,
...So I'm curious, are you all using a
single stylesheet for a site or do you
have to constantly tweak on a page by
page basis? I don't mean tweaking for browsers,
I mean tweaking for aesthetics. And do you
write your own or use an editor?
Andy,
I usually
I'm a Pop-up killer, too - run PopUp Stopper constantly. But this
ad bypassed PopUp Stopper - it wasn't a 'new' window... it was an
animated graphic with sound that popped up inside the parent window
and moved across the content. Very short and amusing - more like a
cartoon than most ads.

Whoops! My mistake. It *does* need to be online to grab the

JavaScript ad code from ds.eyeblaster.com - something called
BurstingScript.
The page still works and is 60+k zipped if you want to try it.

Hi
After uploading documents to our server (IIS 2000) we are losing Sql Server
connection.
Following is the error.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e4d'

'(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL
Yeah, use SSL. I chose ASPTear for my current project, only $35 per license
and it does lots of other stuff as well as SSL connections.

J,
Portland.co.uk used to offer free, I think they still do;
34sp.com has a low price option (about £12 a year) and I have had good
responses to my many queries for smilepoetryweekly.com which is with them.

Yes, I use ASPTear witning VB6. It's COM, it may be designed to work
within ASP but will work within any other language that supports COM, in
theory.

Andy,
You misunderstand me if you think I can't write css by hand. I can write
CSS and HTML by hand but I CHOSE not to do so. When I teach css I hand
code during the demonstrations but I rarely do so on sites I create.
Whether to hand code something or use a tool with auto complete is a
matter
No but the range can then give a person the root domain of the range's owner in this
case '.co.nz' and (providing they only host/ISP on their own shores) use the root
domain info to redirect accordingly.
