Are you running short of disk space? Maybe low on virtual memory. Delete all temp
files, internet files and as much as you like from "program files" (seeing as you
intend to reformat)

Amrit,
Every web server has a pre-configured time out
period set for a script.
Usually it is 30 seconds. It also serves
as a security measure.
To overcome this, you could dump your messages
or email address to a flat file to the hard
drive, and then set up a cron job (thru crontab)

I've done it from within Windows either from a command prompt (dos box
Start/Run/command.com) or from my computer, right click on C and format.
You get all sorts of warnings but it will do it (or at least it would on
my Windows 9x system). You can also do it by booting into dos mode.

You can't format the drive that Windows resides on via Windows itself.
If you can boot to CD then do so with your Windows CD in the drive - Windows will

you do it from "within" windows?

If the computer is new enough to be able to boot from the cd then that's

formatting, etc. are copied.
If I recall correctly there are 3 files you need to format. Make sure
that you really have cd support when you boot fr

Hi,
Could use a little help here.
I'm trying to reformat a hard drive on my Mom's older computer.
It runs Win98, has cd rom drive and floppy drive.
I have created a boot disk using the Windows create a boot disk feature.
But it's my understanding that Win98 *is* a bootable cd on it's own.
So,

strange results (for adult sites, etc.) came up. I need to test some
PHP scripts there.
Thanks.
