Just to bump this...
I'm sorting out my Schedule for November; is this definitely planned to go
ahead?
Is it time to start promoting it more (two months lead in is just enough to
stir up some attendance I suspect).

It should be going ahead then, and if the event does go ahead, it'll be on
that date, but I can't seem to get a response from the Skiff anymore...
Ok, I'll pencil it in as very likely :) I notice there are more names on the
attendees list - that's kinda cool.
Advertising wise, let me get a

attending. If it is only three of us, hell, I am still up for it :)
You can have a geonotice on selected projects if you so wish. This has been
the standard way to publicize an event in the past 2 years or so.

Crumbs, I'm not having the best of luck with organising a date for this
:| I see the wiki was only just updated for both of these …
Sorry about that - the dates have been at http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetings
for a while, but I only realised that they weren't on the events page this
I don't know if Brighton has a Linux User Group? But they might be
interested (and also may have suggestions for venues and other helpful
stuff).
The only really important thing in a venue is the WiFi ;)
As to advertising; post on the Bot Owners Noticeboard.

I've put it in the meta meetup template
http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template%3AMeetup_listaction=historysubmitdiff=2845220oldid=2843061
But I suggest not doing any geonotices until you have booked at a venue and
put it on the meetup page.

Per previous, I am still interested in this, though I would probably attend
for a day (no overnight), but we'll see.
No point getting a large place though, if it's still such a short list. Even
a packed 20-seater would be better than an empty 80-seater, I guess.
But on the upside, it can still
Thanks to all the advice all, I'm (still) working with people from the venue
I've been looking at, yes they have whiteboards and wifi :)
And anyone want to cook lunch? :P (Still working on that one, depending on

Hi Tom,
I'm already in talks with some people at the Skiff discussing us using it :)
Glad you know about it as well!
Designer wise, I don't see why not? I'm sure there are plenty of design
related bugs out there and other things they can do...

I've decided (due to various factors) that I'm going to move it back a
weekend, it will now be on the 19th/20th of November. Still confirming a
venue, maybe looking at a group booking at Travellodge ...
Can't think of what else I was going to mention but feel free to
question me. :)

I would be interested in a UK Hackathon, and there are a fair number of
heavy-duty UK techies, I suppose the way forward would be a weekend
event, and the crux would be, primarily, suitable premises.
* Good wifi, plenty of mains outlets.
* Food and drink
* Presentation facilities
* Cheap

I've already mentioned this to Lewis off-list but might as well post here as
well.
If Lewis and the others who have expressed interest can organise the event
then WMUK will be keen to support it financially to make sure there is no
entrance fee and no-one is digging into their own pockets.
