I think at this point there is the support needed to provide help for
the hurricane, but we need some organization. It seems to me this should
be a WISPA lead effort. I think someone from the board should lead the
effort or have the board designate a volunteer to lead the effort.
We are ready
ATTENTION: WISPS and Local
Companies in the Hurricane Region
Trango
Broadband Wireless would like to assist in the relief efforts to re-establish
connectivity in the disaster areas. If there are Trango WISPS and local
companies engaged in the relief efforts to re-establish communication
Contact the guy from www.singingriverdsl.com he's serving that entire
area already - no need to re-invent the wheel - use his infrastructure.

That sounds like something that could work. How can we get started?

Matt - I am willing to help - but I do not feel that they need what you
are wanting to bring to them. They are in need of water / food / $$ -
everyone is being forced to leave these areas FYI - in another week or
so - it will be nothing but ghost towns for months until plans are in
place to start
As a WISP we don't really have the ability to provide food or water.
What we can provide is communications. I keep hearing people can't get
in touch with their friends and family. Is there no need for
communications support? If not, great, but if there is a need I for one
would like to help.
We have power in Mobile and we also provide our own power on the coast
site - Wind Generator (which may be gone) Solar panels (which may be
gone) and a huge battery bank (with a fresh fluid cycle - fresh water to
salt water) :)
If the tower didn't collapse Im sure our gear is still hanging and
We are mobilizing to help those in dire straits. SlingShot is a subsidiary
of EcoDigital Development Group (EDG) under TEAM EDG we have an
environmental engineering and remediation firm, a property redevelopment
company, and believe or not a RV rental company.
We are working out the logistics
