Using FileMaker as a datasource is proving trickier than I thought it would.
What ever happened to selecting DataSource:New:FileMaker Pro and getting a list
of available datasources.
ODBC, that's what happened.
Ok, so I have FMP Server running on the same Mac as Witango. I have the

Using FileMaker as a datasource is proving trickier than I thought it would.
What ever happened to selecting DataSource:New:FileMaker Pro and getting a list
of available datasources.
ODBC, that's what happened.
I am about to embark on FMP projects myself. This is quite distressing. I
just invested heavily in upgrading.

Actually I added and tested FileMaker support in the Studio on Sunday night.
We¹ve hit a few last minute bugs, however, so the relea

Not locally on FileMaker Pro? It is promoted as an ODBC/JDBC datasource.
I foresee an opportunity for deploying Mac mini Servers with Witango and
FileMaker for several of my

I would not ever suggest using anything but FMS to do this. Using FileMaker in
peer to peer is always risky for more reason then I can count.

database engine and still use FileMaker to build a good looking management tool.

You can a field at any time, and even set the order of the fields within a
table. The key to mysql, is to use a good tool with it. MySQL Workbench is
free, and a great tool, but I love Navicat. Try the trial version.

One more thing to consider, is SQLite. Think of it kinda like an open source
file database, and there are odbc/jdbc drivers for it, but it definitely works
more like FMP, in that it is a file based db, not a server. Navicat also works
well with sqlite, and so does SQLite Manager. Never tried wit
