, when DBVERS has a value (the value does not matter) we need to
set DBTYPE to '2'. I have looked for examples, but cannot find a direct
method. I am not certain how a custom action would work here. Is there are
way to say
IF DBVERS <> "" THEN SET DBTYPE="2&quo
?
I looked into the wstdiff file and I see the "commands" for adding the folder
and the files, yet nothing is done on the target system. I do use the
reinstallmode=a option to try and force things.....What am I missing?

obvious errors,
so I am not sure what I am looking for to determine why I don't get these
specific folders established. Other files that are part of the original
install are updated and new files in other folders are added, but I am not
getting these new folders.
Is there anything I need
ippet of a very large file. I do wish
there was a "Fix All" option somewhere when faced with many*10 file
differences. Thank you for the response.

. When we stich
over to a major release I will adjust my scripts to conform to default behavior.
I also like that you can dig into the source code. It is worth a look.

. Would that apply to user input from a
custom form. I think so, but not sure.
My alteration for the future will be along the lines of either a custom action
or like you stated, save off the values. This is very rich meat to digest and
I thank you for all the input.

I am posting this as a different topic for I got the answers I needed from
the other post regarding basic msp stuff. I've narrowed down the specific
problem I am having with my upgrade.
The project (Attached) has a section that writes UI data (from a custom
window) to an INI file.
rom what I've read it seems
the installer ignores the last number.

looking around the net, but not really sure there was anything
definitive out there that explained this issue. I posted before, attaching the
log file but is was @ 3mg. I will send project files if needed.

From
ng the initial file
in the basedata folder. You would have to do that for each component (and
therefore directory) that changes. Adding keypath=yes isn't going to help
because its already implicitly set to the default. Also you must not change a
component keypath, once set.

egrate the fragment files into the main
project (not what I want to do in the future) to see if that will work.

That makes sense. The files are large so I will upload them.

I am trying to create a "patch" install (.msp). It has been a learning
struggle, but I got to the point where the msp install updates some files
(if I use an 'a' flag on reinstallmode). However, in the original wix
project I use paraffin to create a fragment for a database update component.
