That's odd, I tried it today before posting with v3.0.4401.0 and it
doesn't work. Just
as it fails to find the
extension, the only way to get this to work is to include a fully
qualified path to the extension (or change to the same folder as the
binaries and run from there but then you need fully qualified paths to
the source).

In addition the WiX tutorial has now been updated to include v3 COM+
information: http://www.tramontana.co.hu/wix/lesson5.php#5.12.

Here is a COM+ fragment I have just knocked up.
?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?
Wix xmlns=http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi;
xmlns:complus=http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/ComPlusExtension;
Fragment Id=Files
DirectoryRef Id=INSTALLDIR
Component Id=LogEvnt_dll DiskId=1
A word of warning, on Windows 2003 the default site might not be at ID 1 and
IIS://localhost/W3SVC/1 would fail. It is when you initially install but if
you where to delete the default and recreate it it would have an ID that is a
hash of the name.

Thanks for the tip but I have already used an xml logger and it doesn't really
help. I like to see the actual error in the ccnet email and build report and
using an xml logger means you have to look elsewhere to find the actual error,
the report just says msbuild failed.

It looks like you file attribute is wrong, it is set to WebConfigFilePath but
this seems to be set to #f_6da07eb4 - is that a File/@Id, if so then that
should be in the XmlConfig/@File attribute.
