WIN10 updates mess with software regularly. Restart the computer to see if that
helps. It usually solves the problem. If not, check the com port assignments.

WSJT and DXLABS PSK31 Fails transmit after latest W10 update. I am using
SIGNALINK USB interface. The strange thing is that Music files played back

The point of my original post was to suggest that #2 is consistent with what
most folks seem to log in contest mode however #1 certainly meets the
requirements of contest logging.
#3 is of no help at all for contest logging except to get rid of a piece of
erroneous information.

Seems to me we have 3 choices (using what info is available and eliminating the
current behavior).
#1 keep the RST_SENT to be the signal report (still accessible in your log and
theirs) but put their grid in RST_RCVD.#2 Change both fields to grid reports#3
Simply blank the RST_RCVD field

OK. I get it now. It is better to report a value that was has nothing to do
with the contact made but is just about but not quite completely unlike RST
than it is to report what was actually received.

Every message receive that has a report sets it. So if there's no report it
won't get changed. Ergo...the last report message you got will stick. Does
seem a bit misleading.

When we look to the ADIF specification, we see no information about the
possible contents of the RST_RCVD and RST_SENT fields. However, we
Thank you for the replies and point taken. I will shut up and go back to

JT Alert does in fact use these fields as if I change them manually they end up
in the log correctly.I will continue to manually enter the grids into the

Minor point: RST means Readability, Signal strength, and Tone (for CW).

Thanks for correcting that. I couldn't find an "official" definition but found
it now. My point still standsthe field doesn't seem to fit grid reports

problem...it's a free text field.
I shouldn't have pulled that o

there some reference which calls for using this field for VHF contests?
And you're correct...JTAlert does not read the wsjtx log file. But they should

Bill,
What may be the problem is not what WSJT-X logs, but what is being sent
via the UDP connection to JT-Alert? I don't believe that JT-Alert
actually reads the log that WSJT-X creates.
In which case it may be a simple change to the UDP payload sent out, and
something that JT-Alert will
Good morning Mike,
The point is in NA VHF Contest mode there is no signal strength exchanged
because the gridsquares are substituted. I will concur there are fields for
the gridsquare however they are the (usually)six character gridsquares being

Don't the grids go into GRIDSQUARE and MY_GRIDSQUARE already?
