That's odd. I have a fairly freshly installed and updated Bionic right here
and gcc -v gives:
gcc version 7.3.0 (Ubuntu 7.3.0-12ubuntu1)
On the other hand, apt show gcc gives:
Package: gcc
Version: 4:7.2.0-1ubuntu1
I did not manually upgrade anything, just apt upgrade.

Ubuntu 18.04 has gcc 7.3, which I tested, and which does not have the
problem.
Any idea why they didn't include readline 6?

Correction:
My schedule for the Feature Freeze / Release Candidate was wrong. The final
feature Freeze in April 19th, not March. If there is a bug, it may be picked up
and GCC bumped to 7.3. As it stands now, the repository is still sitting at 7.2
for Bionic (18.04).
Apologies for the c
Hi Doug,
If the problem is in fact the GCC 7.2 tool chain, that may very well be a
problem for 18.04 also. For Readline, the version was bumped to libreadline7
between Xenial (now obsolete) and Artful (obsolete in July). One should be able
to specify libreadline-dev in the Debian control fil

Hi Frank,
I've been running wsjt-x 1.8.0 on a rpi3 for weeks now, using a neat
qrp-labs receiver variant. FT8 decodes takes about 5-10 seconds on a busy

What kind of sound card are you running ? I'm guessing USB. If so then
there's certainly a possibility of USB problems

Hi Frank,
In this case, processor utilization is probably less of a concern than
memory in terms of overall performance. The RIP2 is short to begin with for
"normal" desktop activities. I believe the Pi2 B/(x) models came with ~1GB;
even less on older versions. While you are watching HTOP, keep a

Hi Joe,
sorry first e-Mail did not pass my filter, so it went to spam...and I
send a new one.
At first, green Monitor light does NOT go out.
Everything looks fine. But waterfall stops and no more messages are
decoded. Sometimes it is possible to recover the program by pressing

Thanks, kinda glad it’s not just me. In my case I’m controlling an Icom IC-718

Can’t say for certain but it seems to do this more when idle. i.e. receiving in
the background but no active hands on transmitting, a little bit like a ‘sleep’
Were you running RC2 OK?
Yours would be the 2nd report we have of this.Other guy is an IC-7300 with
direct control of it via hamlib.
I'm working with him now to try and isolate the problem.
