That sounds a lot like RFI. Usually happens on specific bands and certain
power levels.
Check your audio devices in the sound control panel when it happens to see if
audio is going to a different device.

While operating FT8 I get an occasional Problem with wsjt-x quitting
transmitting. It is still receiving and decoding OK, but will not turn the

shut wsjt-x down using the red "X" the wsjt-x program is moved from the ta

I see it as a good test of the FT8 decoder's ability to pull out the
data from all the dross.

I'm curious where these ranges came from. The 10/15/20 meter ranges look
like a good idea, but it seems like 3.590-3.600MHz and 7.080-7.100MHz are
recipes for a lot of FT8 frustration.

Hi George,
Another approach is to use AUDIO instead of RF for your demo. No radios
needed, just laptops. Deliberately route the FT8 audio output to the
loudspeaker and use the microphone for audio input. In a typical meeting room,
there is generally enough audio level for decoding, above
If you want someone to click that link, you should put some explanation for
what it is to convince people that it is legit. I know very few people who
would click such a link without knowing what to expect to see there. Wouldn’t
touch it with YOUR ten foot pole, much less mine.

Couple of ideas
#1 You can actually use speaker/mic to do it so no RF is involved at all.
#2 You can run one computer with two big monitors and run 4 or 5 copies of
WSJT-X all on virtual audio cables.
You can do your own test that way to learn the Fox side a bit better.

I have been asked to set up a F/H demo for our hamfest in March. I'm
thinking run the power all the way down on some rigs set up around the room
and transmitting into dummy loads on a very discrete frequency so as to not
get people too excited elsewhere. This way the local hams could actually

FT8 in State QSO Parties?
This year there will be QSO parties for all States except Alaska. Most are
run by individual States, but there are two regional ones (New England QSO
Party and the 7th Call Area QSO Party). At present in WSJT-X V2.0.0 there
isn’t a FT8 ‘Special Operating Activity’ modu
Unfortunately, that had no effect. I would have been surprised if it had,
since there is no USB connection between my computer and the radio.
Everything goes over Ethernet. I experienced the same thing with my old rig
(FTdx5000) when I was connected via USB.
So I'll keep looking for a solution. I

Actually, no one should be transmitting on his frequency, but some insist on it
anyway.
Lock the TX, find a clear frequency, and call him there.
