Hi!
You just need cheap usb-rs232 dongle (ebay $2-$3), one TTL chip 74LS05,
10k and 4k7 resistors. All together well under $10, should say under $5.
I just blow my Ci-V level converter that was made with MAX232 chip and
made new one with those.
Usb-rs232 dongles do not have rs232 specification
Hello John and maybe others who might be interested.
a simple chinese built multi pupose interface might be you saving grace
for your Icom 7700, I use them on multiple Icom rigs, (7600, 910, 275H,
475H etc).
Look for "2018 U5 USB PC linker" on ebay (may ned to set your setting to
world wide)

True, but with a rig that has an Ethernet port, more hardware shouldn't be necessary. I know the Flex 6xxx works well with WSJT-X via the network. I guess we need someone to clone the code so that it uses Icom's CAT commands and IP ports. It's not a Fortran thing, so I don't have that talent.

According to the manual there is a DB-9 connector for CAT control.
Just need a USB adapter since the 7700 is already in WSJT-X with
serial port control.

You would think it’s that simple, but no. Icom’s required CT-17
level-converter, at $139, only works with an RS-232 connection on the
PC. USB-9pin converters are evidently not supported.
There have been some good designs for replacements for the CT-17.

Has ANYONE successfully deployed WSJT-X on an Icom IC-7700, using the Icom
RS-BA1 software for the virtual serial porting via the ethernet port on the
rig? For those not aware, the 7700 has no conventional bidirectional USB
ports to couple a PC; the only way to allow a PC app to interface via the
