/inittab you can reduce the
number of virtual consoles down to 2 or one which also helps. Also
run Rxvt instead of Xterm. Lot's of little tricks like that.
Anyway, it _can_ be done.
Okay, so then all that needs to be done is fit Xastir in a 320x240 pixel
screen ;-)

problems with ./configure and *Magick, the configure output is
generally less helpful than the resulting config.log file.
Look in there for the exact test which failed. I usually find that it's some
other library missing that ImageMagick is dependent upon.
