I believe -configure is broken in XFree86 4.2 because of bugs
in the cyrix driver. Basically, you have an "ark" chip so it
may be supported by the "ark" driver (maybe. It's an old card
and that kind of stuff tends to deteriorate over time). If you
move the cyrix module out of /usr/X11R6/lib/mo
You are using the wrong driver. In the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
change Driver "vga" to Driver "nv". Note that the server is
not using the XF86Config but the XF86Config-4 which takes
precedence.

I wouldn't expect the VGA driver to be able to support flat
panels. You should be using the appropriate driver for your
graphics hardware as there is a greater chance that it supports
flat panels (but depending on the graphics card, it may not).
