X windows was working fine, then one day i went to startx and got this. OS
is Mandrake 9.0

I am having difficulty with video playback. When I attempt to play MPEG
or other video files, I hear audio, but the video displays as solid
blue. Video plays back fine if I turn off acceleration, but then the
rest of the GUI is incredibly slow.
Currently I am running XF 4.2.1 on an Oxygen VX1

will help me achieve this setup?

Then, I need either XFree, or a window manager, to treat all apps as
being in a 1024x576 X session. -- Which I have been unable to do so
far.
This is what I need to solve, if anyone knows how it can be done.

to do:
/etc/init.d/xfs stop
this should remove the pid file.
and then
/etc/init.d/xfs start
and look for errors, or if you are luck, the [ok].

Basically I want to reverse what a virtual mode is normally used for.
-- But it appears I may need to force it, somehow, to do this. (You'd
think this would be easier to do than what it took to support a larger
virtual resolution. :-)

(TFT) display. The screen associated with
the external monitor is not being displayed. The external monitor's
status light is just blinking. The xinerama extension _is_ working.

Where did you get your XFree86? The list of supported cards in your log
does not include the ATI Radeon Mobility U1 (IGP 320M), so you'll
probably not have luck with the current radeon driver you are using.
With my XFree86 log I have:
