[xmail] Inconsistency in smtp responses

Hi all. I connected directly to XMail 1.9 on Redhat 7.2 for some tests, & noticed what seems to be an inconsistency. When connecting directly to the smtp server via telnet, I get an inconsistent response to the "MAIL FROM:" line. At times when I put a space between the colon and the "<" that

I am still not able to get this to work. People who are not in the list are still able to send a mail to the list. ( even after adding "ClosedML""1" to the user.tab of mailing list user). I have verified the Tabs in the user.tab also. Tried restarting xmail but all in vain. I doubt whether
