if an address in the envelope of a spool file fails the syntax check
(I had an example of a null recipient, RCPT TO:), currently XMail
raises a -55 ERR_INVALID_SPOOL_FILE error and silently freezes the message.
I think in these cases a bounce would be appropriate, to let the
sender

I happen to try to make XMail work with dovecot these days.
I don't know if Dovecot is of any interested to you.
However, my choice was this because I've been using XMail for nine years now and
I am pretty happy with it and don't want to drop it under any circumstances..
