Yeah, but a pedal is so much cooler.

Wow. Doesn't look as good as ACT LABS' guns, but the thing comes with a
FREAKING RELOAD PEDAL. I want one.

Lawrence, all this talk about porting some of advancemame's features to
xmame made me wonder: have you ever considered "joining forces" with the
author of advancemame to merge both ports into a single project? Yeah, I
know all about the licensing issues (MAME vs. GPL), but it seems to me like
both
You could always ask the author of AdvanceMAME if it's okay with him to use
his code in xmame (I think he already knows, but just to be sure, specify
that xmame uses the mame license).

This may sound stupid, but when you plug in your gamepads, do you make sure
all your axis are in neutral position?

The XVideo Extension (Xv in short) is a X11 module that provides hardware
accelerated colorspaces, designed mainly for video playback (ie. most video
playback apps include Xv support, and that is the preferable way of
rendering). xmame uses it as a crude way of doing hardware scaling, which

I know jack about Solaris, but are you sure the Solaris and Linux Joystick
APIs _really_ are the same? My guess is that you'll need to make more
modifications than that.

Last time I checked Rhythmbox was extremely buggy and unstable... so I guess
it's better now?
Anyway I can't wait for Juk in KDE3.2, it looks quite nice.

Not using XMMS? ;)

While mame.dk is down, there's always romshare.net (formally known as
emuchina.net) for all our rom needs.

Dear god.
I was expecting something like an early 2.95, but it turned out to be no
less than a prerelease of the next version. Silly me, assuming a Debian
system would automatically have a prehistoric version of gcc...
And you seem to have more than enough RAM/swap to compile x11_window.c

I agree, and wonder why xmame does not compile with -j (ie. parallel make)
in the first place...

Two likely causes I can think of that could trigger that Internal Compiler
Error you just got:
1) Since you previously told us you were running Debian, I am guessing you
are running on a very old version of gcc that most likely has critical bugs.
Could you tell us the output of "gcc --version"?
2
Have you tried Apple's own X11 server (based on XFree86)?

That works, but keep in mind this trick will do a _software_ 2x scaling, so
it will eat up a considerable amount of CPU cycles.
