As long as you are not looking for proxing capabilites, I would suggest that
you also take a look at NetScreen. We currectly have a bunch of Watchguards
and NetScreen deployed and I REALLY like the NetScreen firewalls for
guarding any sort of web/application farm. These devices are the fastest
things that I have ever seen. The only thing that would make me think twice
about using NetScreens in every security implementation we do is the fact
that WatchGuard supports application level proxies. These allow for better
protection of enterprises. One of our clients is pushing 30-40mb/s through
a HA set of NetScreens and we have nothing but success with these devices.
The same client is using another pair of NetScreens to run a site-to-site
VPN using around 10mb/s of traffic. Again, no problems...

Make sure you look at Cyberguard. They support GigE adapters, as well as
the RedCreek VPN card. www.cyberguard.com

Subject: What firewall?

Hi!

I\'m about to buy a firewall, and I wonder if you people could give me
some advices that could help me decide which one that fits me best. See,
I\'m quite new with this.

So, this firewall should protect a quite big serverpark. It has to deal
with a lot of information. It might be necessary to use two devices. If
it is, the information will be divided upon these two with a load
balancer. No special needs for VPN.

I\'ve been thinking about using Watchguard Firewall 2500 or 4500. I
know that 4500 handles VPN though.

Is this a good choice? Is there sites on the net where products are
compared and where you could see the good and the bad of each one?

Thanks / Martin Andersson
