Hello,

Using Sub7 for remote administration is like using TNT to clean out your
drain.

You can add ACL/filters to your firewall to contain the traffic. But, what
do you do internally? I wouldn't count on the authentication it provides. I
haven't checked but I doubt it is anything other than clear text.

What do you do with your anti-virus solution. If you don't have one that
picks this up then you've wasted your money.

You also need to consider the legalities of association, i.e. your
management (or another party) are concerned with your activities or job
performance and find you have a Trojan installed. Great excuse. You're
history.

It is kind of like using Hunt to monitor sessions. The reputation of Sub7
isn't exactly quite like that of SATAN, nmap, or Nessus.

All I have to say is VNC! It's free, lightweight, password and port
protected, easy to use, and works like a charm!

Hello Fellow Subscribers,

The Question I have is: What is your opinion on useing a Trojan like
SubSeven to manage your network or even any other Remote Management type of
Program? And if you were how would you go about and testing the Prog for
Backdoors. And also could you suggest any remote management Software that
you have found useful and free is the key word here.

Thanks,
