Jay, the subject name is setup for a 'RedHat 7 box' :D I'm running RH Linux 7, I think it's kernel 2.2.18
Thanks for the help. I'm looking into Tripwire. What about things like Portsentry, etc - are they applicable to a home system? Is there anything that can combine the tasks of these programs. I'd rather have separate programs doing a thorough job, but if there is one that does ALL these things well (IDS, checking system files etc) then that would be good. Snort seems a little complicated... quite a lot of manual work in it? That's OK, but if there's something a little simpler... Thanks again. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jay D.
