alt.language.latin is a newsgroup. Your isp should have a news server (nntp)
that will allow you to access the newsgroups. A newsgroup is similar to a
mailing list such as this one, but the difference is that the messages
(posts) are kept on various servers, rather than being distributed to the
subscribers. You can post to a newsgroup without subscribing and some news
servers will send achives of postings or individual postings to an e-mail
address. See your isp for details on setting up your newsreader for access.
Outlook Express has a newsreader and there are plenty more available for
many different operating systems as shareware or freeware. If you isp does
not have have a news server, you can get a free account at
http://www.deja.com. Deja mains a searchable archive of postings. Most news
servers only keep posts for a set amount of time. Be aware that posting to
news groups may expose your e-mail address to spammers. In fact the term
spam actually came from Simultaneous Posting Across Messagegroups.
Messagegroups being another name for news groups. It specifically referred
to posting message to many news groups at the same time (cross posting),
although today it's use has been changed to mean sending unsolicited
commercial e-mail.
