there is another solution if it is aol  and it is a program call
stayconnected...   put out by  inkline Software Labs and the web site is
http://www.inklineglobal.com

IF the problem is with aol  this will prevent them from  disconnecting you.
This is a wonderful program and there is a version for those of us without
aol...

Hi there

The problem can be your modem as well as AOL. Hopefully they should not be
disconnecting people every minute. Try a new or alternate modem. Check your
modem settings in control panel and ask AOL to help in solving your problem.
Sometimes it might just be that your modem is loosly set in the motherboard
or
there might be a bad cable connection. Also check settings in system(control
panel) and internet (control panel). There is an option to run diagnostics
in
your modem settings, try that.
