I agree with your assessment of this problem, my question is why would
anyone use aol to begin with... I have heard more problems from people with
aol from not being able to open files. web pages etc, etc, etc. Never being
able to connect due to buy signals, tech support that is not so supportive
.. I had aol for one year, just bought a new Gateway computer and got a
year of aol for free, told them they could keep their aol, I refuse to use
it... No credit but hey I get online stay on line and pay less money, can
use which ever browser I choose, although aol members can to , they just
dont know it ,and if what I heard today is any indication of the direction
aol is going they wont even be able to use another browser beside the aol
one..
That is scary . I have sent more people mime decoders for opening files to
aol members. somehow this seems crazy to me.... and the saddest part is
that even then they have trouble.. how sad...

I agree that Stay Connected is an excellent program, but consider that
if he is getting disconnected after just a few minutes online, he is
probably not getting disconnected due to inactivity or too much time
online, and Stay Connected is utilized to combat those two things.
I think the problem lies either in line noise or modem settings. It
could be a bad network connection to AOL servers, as well.
