Hello,
Am looking for reliable information regarding the registering of a domain
name.
My previous searches through a few search engines (Yahoo, AskJeeves,
HotBot, etc.) have directed me to Domain Name Registering Services. For
now, I think I want to shy away from them.
(Small segue here: Since Netcom has been bought out by MindSpring
recently, I have not been able to get Telnet to connect... this is another
problem for a different discussion. I just don't have the time to tackle
this challenge. I suppose if I could get Telnet to work, I think I would
give WHOIS a try and go from there with a direct connection to InterNic.)
So, I guess this boils down to a "Newbie" type question... how do I connect
directly to InterNic via the Internet? (as opposed to going through one of
the countless registration services)
Perhaps someone can provide a recommendation for a reliable and up-to-date
FAQ page that isn't just a commercial for one of the Registration Services?
A page that has instructions that will walk me through the whole process of
registration with InterNic on my own would be ideal.
And... maybe... I'll consider one of the Registration services (there are
tons of them out there), but I have no way of telling who is legit and who
isn't. So... perhaps a recommendation??
If I really need to be directing the above questions to another list,
please advise.
