I want to thank everyone who took the time to help me
with advice and links. I was sure for a while (been
dealing with this for 2 weeks now) that it was
weather... ( no vegetation out yet) until the few days
where it was crystal clear and not windy! My main
fear came from the loud sudden "popping" type noise
that the receiver made as the channels went dead. I
intend to check out all the advice and links that
everyone sent me. We started out with DishNet but
here in Northern VA their satellite turned out to be
too low in the sky for even our dish on a 2 story
house to be able to access due to the neighbor's
trees. I won't go into the nightmare their
"authorized representatives" put me through to get my
money back (and they didn't fix the hole they put in
my house that was pre-wired already!). So we are
stuck with Direct TV which is not helpful and their
"techs" know less than we do! We do personally own a
GPS unit which may or may not be suitable to help
re-align the dish. I feared that RCA and Direct TV
would play the "It's not us ...it's them" game. But
mainly being able to hear from others on the subject
has made me feel better since before I knew NO ONE at
all with a DSS type dish and service. Once
again...thank you all very much!
Ruth
