AMP install
Assuming that everything is going into the trunk:
Do all this work with the NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTED, if you try
to do it with the battery hooked up, you can accidently touch a power wire
to ground and short stuff out and blow fuses, and some of those bigger fuses
can not be cheap:
Make sure you have all the parts before you start, this saves on headaches:
You will need to run an RCA cable from the back of the deck to the amp.
Pretty sure it will have to be at least 12' long. I ran mine down
underneath the door trim panel and under the back seat. I suggest spending
a couple extra bucks and get a higher quality one, and one that has the blue
or yellow remote wire. The RCA cables are what brings the sound from the
deck to the AMP. Cheaper quality cables pick up engine noise. The remote
(switch) wire is what turns the AMP on and off so is to not drain the
battery. The remote runs from the deck to the AMP. The deck should have a
wire labeled remote and the AMP should have a screw terminal marked also.
To further reduce engine noise, run the RCA and remote seperate from the
power wire (ie. opposite sides of the car)
You will need to run a RED power wire (i would use 8 gauge, but if you
are under 200 watts or so, then you can use 10 gauge but if you are over 400
watts I think you need to go larger than 8) most car audio places can tell
you what size you should use. If you run it from the front battery to the
trunk you will need around 15 feet of wire. You also need to have an
in-line fuse on the power wire less than 18" away from the battery. DO NOT
INSTALL WITHOUT THE FUSE. My friend burnt half his truck because he didn't
use a fuse. Then from the AMP you will need to run a BLACK ground. This
should be as short as possible and the same size wire as the power. Run the
ground to a sturdy bolt in the frame somewhere close.
You wil then need to run audio from the AMP to the speakers. I used
monster cable because I had some laying around but it isn't neccesary unless
you are running a lot of power. Just hook positive (+) to positive, and
negative (-) to negative. This is the basic AMP hook up. Some (maybe all)
AMPs can be bridged. If the AMP can, it usually has a diagram right above
where the speaker wires hook up. It usually is along the lines of taking
both positive speaker wires to, lets say, the left side positive, and then
both negative speaker wires to the right side negative. I believe that this
increases sound, but may decrease clarity. I would try it normal and if its
not enough boom, then try to bridge it.

Make sure to use good connections, I prefer the crimp type connector verse
wire nuts.
Be careful not to pinch any wires when running them down the floor board.
Make sure that none of the wires interfere with the clutch and other pedels
(personal experience).
Use a MOUNTABLE fuse block.
