How many SEP-1 abstractors do you have ? 7.5 abstract for 11 acute care hospitals as a centralized pool of abstractors 2. Are they full-time or part-time? FT with 2 PT 3. How many charts do they abstract per month? 385 4. Do they do anything else? Yes the other CMS/Joint Commission required measures and additional measures like Peds Sepsis, VTE sampled cases, etc. 5. Are you using a software vendor? Yes, Nuance 6. If so do you have skip logic turned off so you continue abstracting data even if fallout? Yes, otherwise we do not know the full extent of failure causes 7. Do you do any additional abstraction outside of the vendor? (i.e. on a spreadsheet) Nuance has optional fields that we use for additional data collection as in 1 hour bundle compliance, attributed physician/nurse, fluid orders etc. that is downloadable in EXCEL 8. Does the abstractor also send out feedback letters? Yes to the hospital sepsis teams 9. On average how much time per chart is taking to abstract? 60 minutes average but can range from 45 to more than 90 minutes based on how complex and the charting is 10. What metrics are reported to hospital/system leadership? SEP-1, Sepsis Mortality, Breakdown of failures for SEP-1, Antibiotic Selected 11. Who puts together the metrics/report/dashboard?
