I would like to propose for your consideration a somewhat different approach
based on the strategy pattern. The basic idea is that different newline
recognition algorithms can be injected into various classes using an abstract
interface. I converted RootInputStream only for the moment just to demonstrate
the approach. If the idea gets approved, I will adapt all the remaining
classes.
