Looking at Fig1.gif, which plots GC managed by the VM without intervention, I see a maximum heap size of 60,000KB. That is a mere 58.6MB. This is totally inline with my experience of James running on most any VM and totally reasonable. The VM isn't reclaiming more heap size as it simply does not need to.
