- Well, can you perhaps list some of the features that are available
only for WS apps? 
As I understand it, WS apps are apps that expose functionality in one
way or another (standard/non-standard) to the outside world. The key
idea behind exposing them being re-use of functionality realized by
inter-operablility. 
The inter-op itself may be standards based or non standards. 

I must admit, you lost me completely from that line.
