>From a book perspective, I find I keep going back to Doug Kaye's
"Loosely Coupled" (http://www.rds.com/books/looselyCoupled/index.html)
for good references to topics that seem important to what I do.  For a
"closer to the metal" view, Eric and Greg's "Understanding SOA with Web
Services"
finds a decent balance between concepts and the relevant specifications
without falling into "cliffs note", simple summary territory.

That being said, at the rate they're appearing these days, it's hard to
keep up.  Of the ones I have, they're the ones I like best.

I also think some of the emerging OASIS specifications like BCM and
SOA-RM may prove to be valuable in getting people to think about the
business aspects prior to thinking about the technology implementation,
but I don't think they've had much of an impact yet.
