Absolutely true on the different circles point. The last Fortune 500 
client I had (nameless, by contract terms) was such a pain that I 
regretted taking them on almost from the moment I signed the contract. 
That's why I've been prefacing most of my opinions with qualifiers that 
they apply to smaller enterprises (or at least enterprises with smaller 
numbers of services).

There are orders of magnitude more small and medium businesses than 
there are Fortune 500 companies, and I believe that much of the SOA 
style applies equally well to these smaller organizations. But based on 
my experience, I suspect that many of the governance issues in 
particular aren't as important to these organizations as they are to the 
Fortune 500 companies you target. My focus is on sorting out the SOA 
concepts that apply well to this mid-sized enterprise segment and 
understanding the tools that can best be used to meet their needs.
