I talked with a fellow who wanted to know if JDBC or Java ORM tool like 
Hibernate was faster performance wise.  Now, Hibernate uses JDBC to 
connect to a database so this question really doesn't make too much 
sense. I think what he really wanted to know was if HE designed and 
wrote a program which would be faster.
If the person is a client, is he a fault for not really understanding 
about the topic he is talking about or should I go down to his level 
and continue with the discussion?

I feel SOA is suffering some similar syndrome. I often hear about the 
other person who is at fault for not understanding the technology or 
business. :)
