While updating, I now see this as problematic:
"The specification of this functionality is completed by Part III of the [JMX 
Specification, version 
1.4](https://jcp.org/aboutJava/communityprocess/mrel/jsr160/index2.html)"
..as it implies these docs are extended by the historical jmx remote spec.
