That's what Oracle has been saying for the past couple of years, and what
they stated at their iDeveloper conferences.  Realistically Server-Server is
the only place the OCI drivers make sense, since you need to install OS
level sw to use the OCI drivers.  Some of this might have been due to the
fatal errors in the earlier versions of the thin drivers (lots on the list
about those), but they have improved alot in the 8.1.5 time-frame.

I use the thin drivers almost always, but my servlet sites aren't high
volume sites so I've never been worried about testing the comparable
through-put.
