This shouldn't be an issue. If someone asks a spoon feeding question then
give them a spoon feeding answer or better yet don't answer. The "go and
see the specification" answer is actually not rude it's more efficient for
both parties.

It is not the people on the list who give the harsh replies that are
rude. It is in fact very rude to ask a question without attempting to
solve your own problem. As a rule before asking a question one is
supposed to search the archive or buy a book (well, if you go to the
bookstore you can read the book for free, even).

Failure to search the archive, ask a very basic question, or generally
have the list members spoon feed information is the utlimate in
rudeness. If you search the archive you will find many who just answer
questions and never ask. . . Why? Because we have learned how to
search the archive and solve our problems.

I have found that to do this job one needs a certain level of
analytical/critical thinking, creativity, PERSERVERENCE, and patience.
I don't know about the others, however, I RESENT having to spoon feed
others information. It has been said previously if someone hasn't
earnestly tried to solve their problem then they should not be asking
the list. DON'T BE LAZY.
