Obviously, somme people have left for long and

them ? I am not talking about the technical aspect of
the problem, but about the "legal" aspect. Some users
obviously do not even read their mail anymore, which cause
a "mailbox full" message to be send to the list. Others have
changed their mail address and have forgotten to unsubscribe
the old one, causing various warnings to be sent to the list.

I don't want to pre-empt Pier (the list admin) but all these things
are handled automatically by the list server. The trouble is that it
takes time because the list server is very heavily loaded.

What we CAN do is to take care about posting to the list. Each one of
us should make sure that we don't post unnecessary stuff. For example,
this whole thread is a terrible waste of processor time and
bandwidth.

Another thing we can do is to edit the mails that we sent back.
Pierre-Yves sent this mail with the unedited thread intact inside it.
As threads get longer the bandwidth and processor time taken to
dispatch mails gets longer. Simply cutting the rubbish out helps a
great deal.

In short, the list members get the list they deserve. If we want a
good list that doesn't screw up then we can ALL do something to make
that happen.
