 From the ARC standpoint, the PostgreSQL situation with multiple versions
is a disaster you'ld do best to stay far far away from.    Perl is a much
cleaner and more relevant example.

For this case, if you only ship versioned names, such as tclsh8.4 and
wish8.4, then every upgrade to a release with a different versioned name
becomes an EOF of the old versioned names.
