1. ... remeber my old request to get a tinderbox installation for OS/Net
and SFWNV to track the problems in real-time, e.g. before official
builds are made ? IMO this could at least help a bit finding and fixing
problems before the official builds it them...
2. I can understand that developers (even within Sun) do little build
testing with SFWNV - the tree is really _hard_ to use because
incremental builds are broken since _years_ (at least since 2006) and
even minor changes require full rebuilds (the same issue is responsible
for driving contributors away from it - compared to OS/Net the SFWNV
build is a _pain_).

IMO without an official policy noone will care much about this (at least
not for SFWNV - at least I've seen too much stuff in SFWNV where I am
still wondering: "Why ? OMG why ? Why do they use these build flags ?
Why ?"), getting the old stuff cleaned-up is difficult if lots of
paperwork is required (e.g. "you must do 500 benchmarks on all possible
platforms" (<--- OkOk... I'm overdrawing... but only a bit...) or "you
must come-up with 'solid, unbendable proof' that the changes do not
break anything" (<--- nasty comment of the day: Right now some stuff
delivered via SFWNV (like "bash") doesn't even pass it's own test suite
in the way how it's build in SFWNV)) and may even be impossible for
people without access to matching hardware.
