For all this, I have run STN into dial-up and cable using a variety
of ISPs, including AOL, and haven't had any trouble with any of them.
 I have found that it is important to set STN just as you would
absent STN, and don't turn on anything that you absolutely don't
need.  Some times giving too much information for the setup creates
its own problems.  My current two way cable service wants to use
proxy server settings in its version of MSIE to speed its local
service.  STN tends to choke on this setting for a moment.  I turned
it off, and the pause went away.  The pages load fast enough without
it.
