Steve:

What you want is dynamic DNS, or WINS.  STN does neither...  Assuming you
have at least SOME NT boxes on your network, you could configure the NT box
to be the WINS server.  Then, when your PC's come online, they will get a
DHCP address from STN, and announce that address to the WINS server.  When
you try to address a node by name, your PC will check DNS first, then WINS,
and will get the address.  (This behavior can be reversed, BTW)  Of course,
this is all assuming you're using Microsoft products... If you're not, then
replace all my WINS references with Dynamic DNS (DDNS) under *nix.
