Yes it worked for about a week. Then suddenly all the problems. I changed
all settings but no good. I have the idea that it is the cablemodem (hope it
is :) and that isn't such a big problem cause it will be replaced in a month
or so and until then I can give PC #1 (my computer) only access to the
network

Sounds more like the external NIC on the STN or the cable router.  Pinging
the external nic address from inside the network, means the STN box is still
alive and well, but either the external NIC(not used for pinging the
external address from inside) or the cable box is crooking.

Did this ever work?

Yes:


PC #1 gets IP from STN DHCP server, works fine
PC #2 comes online, gets IP from STN DHCP, works for a few minutes, after
that no good on PC #1 or PC#    2 of PC#?

There is no difference in the order of PCs coming online.So it's not
computer dependend, it's just that the first one works.

LAN works fine, I can ping all the clients, inc the STN router, inc the STN
external IP.
After rebooting the STN router, it gets an IP from cable DHCP (so there is a
good connection) but I cannot connect to the internet trough the router. I
cannot ping from the debug mode on the server to an external address. I also
cannot ping to the external STN ip address from a computer that is on the
internet using an ISDN connection, so it's like the STN router is not online
but it does get an IP from the cable DHCP


About my clients/network topology:

PC #1 Win Mil
PC #2 Win Mil
PC #3 Win98SE

Network is UTP, all connected to a switch.

So its like this.!
pc1 gets a dhcp from STN and works great with internet. Then pc2 comes
online (it gets a ip from dhcp?) works for 15 min then STN crashes(or
doesn't work anymore) but the local network still works. You can pint each
pc (STN pc, pc1, pc2) and you can ping the outside network. Can you also
ping like www.microsoft.com (or the ip number of www.microsoft.com) or not?
if not and you can ping your external ip number its very clear that a NIC
stopt working! this is the one connected to internet, because if you ping
you external netwerk ip you ping your stn local (correct me if i am wrong).

Maybe your nic is fucked or something and it loops continously. But i think
you should look at your nics insted of your software. Don't know for sure :)
