I suspect that the problem is not related to rebooting your Mac. It was
probably coincidence that rebooting changed anything in your previous
attempts.

And you are sure that you are running the Sharity GUI application?
And still an open question: Have you added this server manually to the "CIFS
Servers" section? This DOES make an important difference.

Sorry, my wording has been misleading. On Mac OS X, you can restart the
daemon with
sudo /Library/StartupItems/Sharity/Sharity stop
sudo /Library/StartupItems/Sharity/Sharity start

When you mount manually, you must get an error message. What does it say?
Also, can you please look at the Console messages? Sharity may be logging
errors there.
Are you sure that the machine you want to connect to is Windows 98? Windows
2000 and XP can be configured for "netbios-less operation". Sharity
currently does not support this mode, but other Windows machines do.
