Well, after months of delays, I've finally removed the 'destroyed' 525 from
my
GLH. I'm getting ready to pull the 555 from my Daytona, but I just wanted to
verify the halfshafts I'm going to need to aquire for the swap to work. I've
been told that newer omni automatic halfshafts will work. Is this correct or
am I going to need to do some disassembly of the cv joints and mate the
correct joints to the current shafts? Any Help will be appreciated. Also I
can't remember who it was that had originally emailed me about the trans
bracket and heim joint setup for this swap, but if you read this, I am
interested in this setup as well. for the time being, I will be using a newer
shifter and cables, but the cables aren't in great condition, so I do want to
go back to the rod type shifter (especially with winter coming).

Thanks for any info.

Kip

You need the daytona 555 transmissions intermediate shaft (extension that
bolts to block) and use 2 drivers side automatic 1988 - 1990 Omni TBI axels and

its good to go..

If you go the cable shifter route, Shadow 520 transmission shifter and
cables work nice..
The cables are the right legnth as well.. I found that the Daytona
ones were too long for me in my old GLHS's setup..
