[1] indicates that its desirable. I was told by one of the infra team that artifacts in the repo that were not signed or signed with untrusted keys would be removed, and would probably be picked up by a reviewer on the ipmc before that. Sebb probably has a script for this sort of thing. 

From the KEYS section
" .... In preparation, please ensure that public keys are connected as strongly as possible to the Apache web of trust and are available from the major public key servers. " 

Apache Web of trust is defined at [2]


Fortunately you are well placed in the bay area to get your key signed  
f2f.
If you cant find someone, then I'd be happy to burn the release, but  
if I do, would you run the vote and deal with the ipmc?
