If you look at the Bobby Jones single strobe pics, you'll notice there seems to be almost no hand rotation of the shaft before impact. His hand position on the shaft is almost identical at address, at the top and at impact. His wrist cock maintains the flat back of the left hand he has at adress. The club stays on a straight plane.
