I'm on record for well over a decade as disagreeing with this prescription. Changing the swingweight using length, clubhead weight, or shaft weight changes the performance of the club roughly the same. Changing the swingweight using backweighting (which is really the same as futzing with the grip weight) is very different -- and much less predictable as to its effects.

Both theory and empiricism say this.

On a completely pragmatic basis, anybody trying to match swingweight closer than one point is wasting his time. That little difference has no practical effect, neither in performance nor feel.
