I like the way the SHR distro is developing; the phone apps and settings apps are impressive, as is the whole environment - illume and so on
however, i have my reservations about the underlying OS. some of the core apps and libraries are pretty ancient, and trying to manually upgrade anything from other sources quickly leads to dependency hell a recent project i was working on, for which the fr would have been ideal, required a recent version of gphoto. this meant updating a slew of libraries, or having a dual-boot system, both of which seem to be needless overkill so, my question: is there a way to use the shr apps on top of debian? has anyone packaged them as such? failing that, what are the reasons for choosing whatever is the base OS (is it Angstrom still) as a core for shr? were there any specific reasons which prohibited a more modern distro? thanks _______________________________________________ Shr-User mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shr-project.org/mailman/listinfo/shr-user
