geoff,

since you bring up the subject, which is conflict of interest, not
specifically chair affiliation, excuse me for being my normal tactful
self :).

in the ivtf, many folk do work that concerns their employer, someone has
to pay the costs [0]. it is not whether the emoloyer gets their income
by renting integers (and hopes to get it from renting certificates[1]),
or by selling hardware or software, or by contracting to concerned
users, or by selling gifs of naked furries.

the issue is document authors letting their own and their perception of
their employer's interests override the expressed concerns and consensus
of other wg members and, at the same time, using the wg chair position
as a pulpit for those interests.

[1] - what i have seen in the sidr wg has driven me into the group which
is extremely concerned about the rirs controling routing given
their clear lack of altruism for the health of the internet.
